Pastor Jeff Childs
Pastor Jeff grew up in Titusville, PA and was baptized and confirmed at the Titusville Methodist Church. After graduating from college he joined the Army and was stationed in California and Germany. Returning stateside he moved to Minneapolis and went to seminary graduating and beginning his ministerial career in 1983. He served both rural and suburban churches there for 19 years before moving to central NY and served various churches there before retiring in 2019. That summer he flew to Alaska to become a volunteer missionary at a United Methodist Camp near Anchorage and when that ended he came to Frederick, MD to be near a daughter living here. After a year of retirement he was ready to g back to work and asked for a part-time appointment and was sent to two small congregations near Harpers Ferry, WV for three years and then seeking something more than very part-time ministry was offered a two-year full time interim ministry at the Mt Carmel UMC on Hwy 144 near New Market. After a stroke and seizure that first year Pastor Jeff recovered fully though began to realize that full time ministry was too much to handle anymore. And so, on July 1, 2025, he became the pastor of both Mt Pleasant UMC and Liberty Central UMC in Libertytown.
Pastor Jeff is married to Pastor Robin Blair who is also serving part-time in retirement at a church near their home in central NY. She has two daughters and families living up there while Pastor Jeff’s two daughters and families live in Maryland.
